Being close to Toronto, Tobermory is often neglected by tourists. The outdoor natural activity and splendid landscape can prove to be a great escape from the hustle-bustle of the city. This was my first visit to Tobermory and I got to experience so many things. Here are a few things you should do on your visit to Tobermory.
Go on a hike
If you love hiking, you should not forget to check out the Bruce Trail. Starting from Northern Peninsula it ends at Tobermory. There is incredible scenic beauty to behold. The cedar trees lined across the hiking trail makes it even more beautiful.
Explore the geological formation
Ever seen a rock shaped like a flower pot? Yes, you heard it right. You will find in Grotto of Tobermory. There is also a large cave that has been carved out by the waves of Georgian Bay over thousands of years. The view here is unbelievable. However, in order to check out the flowerpot rock, I had to take a boat cruise to the Flowerpot Island. You can have picnic and swim in the clear water.
Enjoy the clear blue water
The clear blue water of Tobermory coast shouldn’t be missed out. This is the perfect place to visit during summer time. Take a swim in the water or walk around the rocky shoreline.
Discover the wildlife
The forest covering a large area is a wildlife sanctuary. You will find otters, black bears, herons, and coyotes. There are several birds to watch. Being a bird lover I loved visiting this forest.
Visit unique shops
There are many shops to check in the town. I visited one afternoon and looked through the outdoor gears, antiques, and models. Taste the ice-cream and fudges. They are simply delicious. I got some souvenirs from these shops to take back memories home.
